32 Weeks
  • I'm pretty sure I haven't done a pregnancy post this entire pregnancy... other than the venting one.
  • I feel like I'm 40 weeks pregnant.  My joints are stiff.  I waddle.  My back kills.  I'm tired a lot.  I don't sleep much.
  • I'm measuring right on track-  but I am feeling GINORMOUS.  I swear I look like I did at 40 weeks with Eliza.  It is freaking me out.
  • This pregnancy has been H.A.R.D.  I will never take an easy pregnancy (Eliza) for granted again.  If I ever have another pregnancy that is...
  • When I found out I didn't pass my first glucose test- the nurse also let me know my Iron was so low she didn't know how I was even functioning.  I almost told her THANK YOU!  I had been feeling so completely exhausted I really wasn't functioning. Napping through Eliza's naps- and by 5 o'clock when Craig got home I clocked out of Mommy duty and crashed.  I was relieved that there was a solution for the way I was feeling. (so was Craig!)
  • So I had to do the second glucose test- I failed.  Gestational Diabetes.  I met with the diabetes clinic and got my instructions and restrictions, along with my blood sugar tester- and left in tears.  Turns out it isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.  I have a healthy diet in the first place.  It's just that my 6 meals a day can get a little complicated- and I really really really miss my sour candy and chocolate covered strawberries.  I'm surviving though.
  • This little girl is a kicker just like her sister was. I can't get enough of the kicks and flips.  She makes herself known mostly at night just as I lay down to go to bed.  Hopefully she doesn't have Eliza's sleeping habits.  Those were hard to break!
  • I'm starting to swell a little but not too bad.
  • Her heart is finally beating normally and everything is looking great with baby.
  • I scheduled my c-section yesterday for May 14th.  After that sunk in I started thinking about everything I need to do before she arrives.
  • I have been having major gallbladder pains.  I have been trying to avoid the ultrasound but the other night I was in tears from the pain- so we decided it was time to get it checked out.  They found "sludge" or something??  They wanted us to meet with a surgeon- but that was the last think I wanted to do.  After reading online and talking to some nutritionists- I've started to get the pain under control.  I'm drinking an awful drink from the health food store called Gallbladder Complete 3 times a day.  I'm also juicing beets, cucumbers, carrots, lemons, and apples and drinking that every day.  It seems to be helping!  I'm also avoiding another whole list of foods that are associated with gallbladder pain.  I feel like I should be losing weight the with diabetes and gallbladder diet.  I still gained 2 pounds since my last visit.
  • Speaking of pounds.. I'm up exactly 25.  Crazy.
  • We are still looking at houses.  Still thinking about building.  Still homeless.  Thank goodness for parents who love us enough to let us live with them!  I still can't believe we rented our house without having a "completed purchase".  At least we are saving money.  (And my parents are loving every second having us here- they want us to stay forever.  Literally.)
  • Eliza is amazed by her little sister.  She loves feeling her kick and she can't get over her hick-ups.  She is going to be the best big sister.  She is constantly kissing her "Witto sisto" and rubbing my belly.  I'm hoping she won't be too shocked when she actually gets here.
  • Eliza is amazing.  She is saying the funniest things.  She is asking a ton of questions all day long.  She is learning as much as she can.  She is changing so quickly it hurts my heart.  I love this stage!!! She was a little pill in California but she's back to her sweet self now. Thank goodness.
  • I don't have any pregnancy pictures.  I need to get on that.
  • I love this little girl- can't wait to meet her.  6 weeks better go quick!

Cabo San Lucas
Another year in Cabo.  It was ridiculously fun- like always.
Lots of swimming-eating-fishing-and eating.
And I survived being 6 months pregnant in Mexico.
(With the way things have gone- I was seriously worried.  Especially since I was bleeding 2 days before we left.  Yep.  I have loved this pregnancy.)

This is Craig's 4th year with us in Cabo.  He has consistently woke up every morning every year to fish off the shore.  And every morning every year he has consistently been skunked.
But this year- he FINALLY caught some fish!  2 Sierras and a bunch of weird fish we have no clue what they are.  We called them pencil fish because they are long skinny and super ugly.

I have to say- of the 20+ years we have been going to Cabo- we had our first somewhat "cold" week. We had 2 really chilly nights and one really chilly day.  It was very out of the ordinary- but we survived!

Craig and I snuck away one afternoon and had lunch by ourselves.  We took a cab there and decided to walk back to the hotel.  Big mistake.  It was so hot and way farther than we thought.  I ended up swollen and miserable. But the lunch was delish!

Dinner on the beach.
Our favorite night.

Right after I nailed her in the face with a Frisbee.  She was so mad at me!

The boys took a boat out and went fishing one day.  They were going for Marlin and Tuna- but they caught a shark instead.  They were all glowing when they got back.  Craig ran to the hotel to get us when they pulled in so we could all see it.  The little girls were scared to death of it.  Eliza couldn't get over how bloody it was. (They had to kill it when they got into the marina) When I told her it was ok and it was dead- she said: "Oh no!!!  We better get Daddy a new shark!"

The weird unknown fish...

Pirate ship
We took the kids on a pirate whale watching tour one day.  It ended up being the cold windy day (of course) so we all froze to death.  We saw some whales up close but we were too wet and cold to enjoy it.  It was so windy and rough we were sprayed with ocean water the whole time.
Miserable.

Uncle Ta-Ta

Breakfast at Mamma's..
Oh yum.

The last night of our trip we went back to our favorite restaurant and then ice cream- as usual.  We went home and went to bed.  At about 1:30 Eliza woke up crying and gasping for breath.  I immediately knew it was croup but I had never seen it this bad before. She was literally gasping for air and panicking because she just wasn't getting any.  Usually we take her out into the cold air and it opens up her airways.  There is no "cold" air in Cabo.  I started freaking out.  So many things were flashing through my mind.  I was so confused because she had just gone to bed a few hours ago perfectly fine and healthy.  At this point I am bawling because my little girl is barely breathing.  And we are in Mexico.  Because we were so prepared and didn't have any oil- Craig gave her a blessing without.  She immediately started calming down but was still wheezing.  Riley and my Dad came to our room and we brainstormed on what to do.  Take her to the hospital?  In Mexico?  Try to find the steroids at a pharmacy?  But after praying my little heart out I decided to wait until morning and if it was still bad we would take her to the hospital.  She slept between us while I laid awake the entire night listening to every breath she took.  At 5:30 am she had finally started breathing normally.  And I decided to go to sleep.  She woke up at 7 completely back to normal.  She barked a couple times when she coughed- but by the time we left for the airport around noon it was completely gone.  She has never got rid of croup without taking steroids. I am SO grateful for the priesthood and for Craig who holds it.  I also learned a great lesson.  Oil is at the top of all my travel lists.  Never again will we go anywhere without it!
