Family Pictures

While we were in CA my good friend Andrea took some family pictures for us. They turned out awesome. Our poor little girl practically cried the whole time (Sorry Dre)...

By the end she was so tired she couldn't even keep her eyes open!

Thanks Drizzle!

Finally got my Vacation...

For over 3 months I'd been practically begging Craig to take me to California.
It finally happened!
It's been over a year since I've been to Laguna...
Which is the longest I have ever gone.
I've been missing the beach, the sunshine, the shopping, and the food.
I was excited for Eliza to take her first trip to the beach house.

We had an amazing time!

Day 1
12.18.09

We woke up to sunshine
So we went right out to the beach
It was high tide so we couldn't actually get on the sand
But it was beautiful!

8 a.m. and 70 degrees- it doesn't get any better!

Big Girl Stroller

We got our "Gina's fix" for lunch
Then headed to The Spectrum so I could shop!
We put Eliza in her stroller without her carseat
for the first time
She loved it!

For dinner we headed to Houstons
I should have taken a picture of our food
to make everybody jealous.
It was delicious.
Eliza fussed the entire meal
But her flower headband sure made her popular.
It must be a Utah thing...

After dinner we headed to Balboa Island to see
The Christmas Lights and yacht parade.
It was PACKED and I didn't get any good pictures
But the boats were beautiful and I've never seen
so many Christmas lights!

Day 2
9.19.09

Early morning family pictures in Newport
with the fabulous Andrea Filio and assistant Lisa Ward
(Pictures to come)
I miss my girls

Beach
It was 75 degrees and sunny
so we headed to the beach for the afternoon

Craig decided that Eliza would be "mad" at us if she knew
we had taken her to the beach and not let her touch the ocean.
Might I add... it's winter- and CRAIG even cringed when he touched the water.

These pictures were taken after the deed was done.
I didn't get an action shot because I was too busy yelling at him.
She didn't like it... obviously.

She was diggin the sand though
I couldn't decide on just one...

That night the grand finale was held at Javier's
The Facer Family Favorite
The food was again... delicious.
And again... Eliza was the center of attention.
I didn't get any pictures-
But this is our happy girl as we got ready

We think she's pretty cute.

We drove through Balboa Island again after dinner.
That little island has the most Christmas Spirit you'll ever see!
I'd recommend seeing it.

Day 3
12.20.09

We woke up and cleaned the house.
Stopped at Gina's again on our way out.
Drove up to Huntington Beach
Got to see the Fabulous Andrea one last time.
Then headed home...

We discovered that if we held Eliza's hand on the drive
She would stop crying
(Which is what she did the entire drive there)
So it was a much more peaceful ride.

We're home... and missing it already!

12.16.2009

4 Months
Her newest thing...

Tongue out..

Spit flying everywhere...

It's the Cutest!

She loves her hands... Sucks her thumb when she goes to bed... Sleeps through the night...
Takes 1.5 hour naps- usually... Giggles when we tickle her... Wears size 2 Diapers...
Weighs 12.8 pounds (27 percentile)... 24.8 inches tall (65 percentile)
She puts herself to sleep... She's on an awesome schedule... Still spits up a ton...
We took her off her reflux meds- then right back on them...
She's a happy girl when she wakes up... Loves her Daddy...
Loves her baths... Has eczema... Rolls over on accident- and it always scares her...
She is sensitive!... Cries when strangers hold her... Grabs at everything...
Slobbers and slobbers... Spits and spits... Chews on everything... Loves her Mommy...
Smiles at herself in the mirror...

She is our Favorite little thing...

12.10.2009

Drama Queen...

It's crazy how Girly our little Girl is
Everybody always talks about how Sensitive she is
She is scared of everything
If somebody laughs too loud, we hear about it!
Craig says she gets her Drama from her Mom,
But have you ever heard him tell a story?
Talk about Dramatic!

And if it's not her Left Thumb...

It's her Entire right hand...

This little Light of Mine, is Four months old.

How did that happen???

3 Months

Eliza is officially 3 months old. Craig gave her an amazing blessing on November 1st. We were so worried that she would cry through the whole thing (since she's so good at that), but she was perfect! We had lots of family and friends in town so we had them all over for a dinner at my parents house. We're so grateful for such great family and friends who came to support us.
It was a beautiful day!

Here are a few things to remember...
1. She is finally starting to be content on her back
2. She's been liking her bumbo lately
3. She loves being naked
4. Still has no hair
5. She has giggled just a few times- very exciting
6. She's sleeping in her crib now- but waking up every hour again!
7. She still spits up an insane amount all day every day
8. She loves hiking in her baby bjorn
9. She's starting to enjoy her baths

10. She coos and caws and we can't get enough!
11. She's starting to grab at things (mostly my hair)
but sometimes she manages to get her binky back in her mouth
12. She still thinks she needs to be held all day long

We are absolutely in love with everything about her!

Halloweenie

Eliza was part ghost part ballerina. (as Craig would say).

On Monday, some friends and I went to Thriller. Jada was part of the opening show. It was soooo cute! I just love watching Jada sing! It was a nice girls night and a well needed break.

On Halloween I wasn't feeling well, but it was Eliza's first so we had to dress up! I was baking/cooking all day with my mom getting ready for Eliza's blessing the next day. But when we were finally finished we headed to Craig's parent's to see the cousins dressed up and to "trick-or-treat" for a few minutes.

We were cracking up taking these pictures with the cousins. Eliza was sitting there by herself! You can tell she slowly started leaning forward- but she lasted quite a while! Cousin Barrett is only 3 weeks younger than her. It is so fun spending time with him and watching them both grow!
I always wanted to marry a {Cowboy}...

I just never thought I really would!

I sure love this "Gay"
{Cowboy} and there are plenty of reasons...
He loves our {Baby Girl} more than anything. He makes me {Breakfast} every weekend. He makes me {Laugh} every night (I'm talking eyes watering, stomach hurting laugh... I love it). He does the {dishes}. He makes me have {Me} time. He {Washes} my car. He watches my {Chick Flicks} with me. He keeps me {Emotionally} grounded. He makes {hard} things so simple. He {pampers} me when I'm sick. He gives awesome {Massages} .. listen to me... {Awesome}. He helps me so so much with {Eliza} I seriously don't know what I would ever do without him. He {Pushes} me when he knows I need to be pushed. He makes my {life} wonderful!

Legacy of Eliza

Eliza was named after my Great Great Great Grandmother. For journaling purposes... I wanted to write her story down, so Eliza knows where her name came from...

Eliza Briggs was born in England, but traveled with her family to America after they joined the LDS church. They arrived in Iowa City in June 1856, where they joined the Martin Handcart Company to make their (late) trek into Salt Lake City. Eliza was the oldest of 7 kids. Because of the terrible weather conditions and their late start, their journey was a lot longer than expected. Food rations were cut and cut again. John Briggs (Eliza's Father) gave most of his portions to his children thinking he could get along until the relief party arrived. "Only those who experienced this trial could realize the heart ache of parents seeing their children hungry and having to live on rations." When the handcart company reached Devil's Gate (Martin's Cove), heavy snows fell upon them. It snowed 15 inches in one night- they were snowbound. Because of John's weak condition from giving his food to his children, he passed away that night, along with 14 others.

Eliza was said to be very kind to her small brothers and sisters. She carried her baby sister Emma under her clothes so she could get the warmth from her body, to stay from freezing. It is believed that this tender care saved the baby's life. Eliza and her Mother Ruth, along with several of the other women would keep a fire burning throught the night to keep the smaller children from freezing.

When the relief party finally came, it was too late for many of them. Eliza lost her Father (42), her Brother Thomas (13), and her sister Mary Hannah (7). Her baby sister Emma died soon after they arrived in SLC.

Eliza was 20 years old when they reached Salt Lake. She was taken in by James and Francis Stratton. With Francis' encouragement, she became James' second wife. A few years later, Francis ran away with a soldier from Camp Floyd, and left her 3 children with James and Eliza. When Eliza had 5 children (along with Francis's 3) they were called by Brigham Young to go South and settle in Moap Nevada on theVirgin River (The Muddy). For the first year they suffered the "unbearable heat", and the "theiving indians", while living in a tent and wagon box with a cover. Eliza had 3 more kids while they lived in Moapa. When Eliza was pregnant with her 8th child, she was not well. James begged her to go back to Provo where she could get proper care. Her answer was "No, President Young called us on this mission to settle the "Muddy River" and so we shall stay until he calls us back." She died 6 days after the baby boy was born.

Eliza was a beautiful, strong, spiritual, and loving person. All the things I want my daughter to be. I'm so grateful for such wonderful ancestors who suffered severely for me and my family. Eliza Briggs Stratton was a wonderful example. I know she was giving My Eliza words of encouragement and strength, as she embarked on her very own journey into this world!

Camping
With an 8 week old...

Does sleeping in a camper trailer count as camping?
Either way- she did amazing- and we had so much fun.

This is us in our new camper trailer!
We were so excited to be able to go on the hunts this year with our Eliza.
It was so nice to be out of the snow rain and cold- and have a warm place to stay at night.
Thanks to my wonderful in-laws we had our camper bought, cleaned, fixed and ready to go in
just a few short days. We love our new little "Home away from home".

We camped in style.

5 week old cousin Barrett came too...

Camp fire with Gram

The boys even got an Elk.
What an awesome weekend we had.
Can't wait to do it again!

I almost forgot my favorite picture...
How can this not make you smile?

A Few Important Events...

Eliza is one month old!

I can't believe she is already 5 weeks.

Craig and I are learning something new every day. I never would have guessed how hard, tiring, fun, overwhelming, rewarding, and amazing being a mom is! I thought I would never get the hang of it. I finally feel like I'm getting back to normal. I'm loving it!

1. She loves her car seat
2. She cries and cries after every time I feed her... it's so sad
3. We have a projectile spitter
(look closely at the photo of craig and her- taken after he got too close right after I fed her)
4. She officially has reflux- bad! and we're trying everything to help her
5. She's starting to enjoy her baths- for a minute
6. She LOVES her binky- if we could just keep it in her mouth
7. She's completely bald on both sides of her head
8. She is smiling!!!
9. She took her first trip to Provo- and slept the whole way
10. She is becoming so aware of the world around her

Craig got his deer...

Not bad for his first deer... and he shot it with a BOW!
Many people may think Craig is an avid hunter. I mean look at him... doesn't he just fit the bill??? Well.. you will be surprised when I say it's only his second year hunting. Last year we were all disappointed when we didn't have any luck on the deer hunt. This year Craig was determined to get one... with a bow. Since he has so much experience in this type of hunt (wink), a lot of people didn't have faith in him. But I did! (That is why I let him start going just a few short days after Eliza was born) He kept coming home with stories of "big bucks", but no luck. One night he called and said "Babe I got a deer!", I said "Serious? That is so great!", and he said... "But we couldn't find it." What? How do you not find the deer you shot? They followed the blood trail as long as they could.. but they lost it when it got too dark. I was sooo disappointed! But he was sure he shot it.. and I wasn't so sure I believed him. The next day he and his friend went up to see if they could find it... well- now I believe him.

We have a new Nephew...

Craig's sister Kelly had a baby boy just 3 weeks after Eliza was born.

Barrett Samuel Stanworth was born on September 1, 2009 at 2:15 p.m.
8 pounds 11 ounces, 19 inches

We were able to go up to Elk Ridge and spend the weekend with their family. Barrett is so cute and just perfect! It was crazy to see the difference that 3 weeks makes. Eliza seemed like a monster compared to him! I'm so excited that Eliza has a cousin that is so close to her age. It's going to be so much fun!
