Hair Cut

Eliza got her first hair cut the other day.
I know what you're thinking:
How can she get a hair cut- when she doesn't have any hair?
Believe it or not- she does.
And it was getting a little {a lot} on the weird side.
My cute friend April convinced me she really needed it.
Now that it's done- I agree. It looks so much better.
But she's still all business up front,
with a party in the back.
{still rockin the mullet}

Elk Hunt
*Never ever did I ever dream that I would ever be blogging about the Elk Hunt. Ever.

I've learned a lot about hunting in the last year.
{Weird}
But apparently I have one lucky husband.
He drew a southwest desert archery Elk tag, with only 3 points.
{Lucky for him, unlucky for me}
We got the news mid-April.
And it's been the main topic of discussion for him ever since.
After months of talking, researching, scouting, practicing, preparing, thinking, dreaming and did I mention talking? about the Elk Hunt, the much anticipated "opening weekend" arrived.
{I thought it would never get here- let's get this thing over with}

Opening Weekend
Indian Peaks
August 19-21

I really sucked at taking pictures this weekend.
This is it...

~Playing pig with their bows the night before the hunt~

But we were really busy hunting, and believe it or not- I loved it!
Opening morning was so intense.
{I seriously almost peed my pants}
Long story short:
He missed.

{I still love him}

Weekend #2
August 26-29
No photos to prove we were even there.
{He didn't get any shots either}

Weekend #3
September 2-5
Since Gram didn't come I didn't have a babysitter.
Kelly and I hung out at camp and entertained kids, cooked delicious meals, and did some crafting.By entertaining the kids, I mean letting them play in the dirt all they want.
They were in heaven.
I actually had to hose Eliza down before putting her in the tub at night. I was afraid the pipes in our trailer couldn't handle all the dirt.
I was probably right.~Yes, this is Barrett eating rocks. Something he did the entire weekend. A little dirt can't hurt, right?~

~Relaxing in the big girl {boy} chair~

~There's nothing cuter than bald heads, saggy pants, and sparkly shoes~

~Nnnnn...nanas~

~"Wussat?"~

~Mommy's helper~

~"I feel tired"~

Eliza had so much fun in the loft with Ryan and Daddy.
Until it was time to come down.
After it was discovered, she hung out by the ladder and cried.

Yes. This is my sexy bearded husband, who has been receiving bribes, ultimatums, bets.... anything to convince him to shave.
Apparently his wife doesn't have as much pull as she thought she did...
~You'll be happy to hear:
The day the Elk died, so did the beard~

The only person with any success with a bow this weekend, was Ryan.
This little dude shot a lizard with his bow.

What a stud.

Weekend #4
September 9-12
I decided to sit this one out.
{I was all "hunted out"}
Of course the one weekend I didn't go, he brought this home...

Elk stats:
5 by 5
950 lbs.
Scores a 345
{That means Big}

Congrats babe!
It's good to have you back to earth.

{Whole New World}

Eliza has officially discovered there is a whole new world just on the other side of our front door. It started by walking out to the garbage with me. Then walking to the mailbox with me. Now- sitting by the door crying "Bye Bye" (while waving bye bye) throughout the entire day is starting to lose it's charm. Ok I still laugh and think it's the cutest. But it might get old quickly.
Side note:
~ If I try to help her- she has a melt down.
~ If I try to pick her up at all- she has a melt down.
~ If she wants to walk on the grass and I want to walk on the cement- she has a melt down.

Is it horrible that this is the first video I have actually taken of her walking? I think I got some a couple months ago when she started taking a couple steps- but let's be honest- a couple steps here and there for 2 months isn't as exciting as it was at first. But now.... she's officially an unassisted (mostly) walker!!! Yeah!

*Sorry it's long- I don't know how to cut it*

{Talking}
Eliza says (or tries to say) anything and everything we say. She's starting to understand words and their meanings. It's actually pretty hilarious. She repeats everything I say. Sometimes I hear her say things I didn't realize she even knew.

We have gone camping every weekend this last month (it's hunting season). Eliza has a little Crib/Playpen in the front of our trailer. She has full view of the kitchen/living room area. Last weekend every morning I would wake up to..."Nana? Nana? Bah-Bah? Bu-e? Ba-na-na? Ba-na-na?" (Banana, Bunny, Bottle, Banana- repeated over and over.) I couldn't be upset that is was 7 a.m.- it was too cute.

My Mom insisted I get her "talking" on video. She's very amazed by all the words she can say. Well- so are we. We're pretty sure she's a genius.

This is my attempt to get her to say some of her words... She's a little distracted.
